At 22, just out of college, I bought my first house from a for-sale-by-owner seller with nobody representing me. It became a money pit that consumed three years and nearly a total loss. A good agent would have walked me through what was wrong with the home and the contract, and I never would have signed. I didn't have that agent. So I became one. For my clients, I'm the person in their corner who catches the problems before they cost you, who tells you the truth about a price, who'll say "don't buy this" when the house doesn't deserve you.
